Default Mattern Guide Service Lake Palestine and Big Sam

Mattern Guide Service on Sam Rayburn & Lake Palestine

Hello Everybody,

PSALM 37; Verses 1-3; Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of inquity. For they shall soon be cut down like grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good, so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

SAM RAYBURN; Water temps have been holding steady at 58-60,s, depending where you are and the time of day. Bass are spawning right now on beds in some areas and also staging Females are cruising near spawning grounds.

Bass have come in this week up to 8-9 lbs. An average of 20-30 Bass a day is common on my Guide trips. I have been using rattle traps in reds and oranges still near grass and sandy banks and catching Bass up to 8 1/2 lbs. Texas rigged crawworms in Black Neon and Junebug, and Watermelons, I like Nichols craws and Paca Craws), have caught some quality Bass also.

Wacky rigged worms in greenpumpkins and watermelons are starting to work well also. Jigs always catch Big Bass, and Black & Blue, Junebug, Watermelon is still producing. Plastic Lizards rigged Weightless on a 5/0 ewg hook, Texas rigged and light carolina rigged are working also. I find good colors are reddish like red shad or junebugs or watermelons and green pumpkins work well for the next couple months. Water is slight stained to stained up in the creeks but over all good shape. Great fishing and give us a call for a great day in God's Creation catching those green fish. Call me at 903-478-2633 or 903-724-1203. Check our web-page for more details on rates etc. at; (matternguideservice.fghp.com)

LAKE PALESTINE; Bass are spawning now as well on beds but difficult to see due to the stained waters. Most Lakes are flooded right now with stained water conditions and Bass scattered out in the high water.

Water temps were 57-64 degrees depending where you are on the Lake and the time of day as well. Caught Some quality Bass on Texas riggeed Craworms in Watermelon colors worked next to the cabbage grass you find along the banks and back in the creek sysytems. Bass up to 9 lbs. have been reported this week but in my boat the Biggest was 6 lbs.

Spinnerbaits also caught Bass in White/Chartruse combos to about 7 lbs. Worked along the shallows next or in the Spawning grounds. Fritz Hager reported a 7 lber. caught on a diving rapala worked along the boat docks.

Also caught some quality fish on main points up to about 6 lbs. om E2baits Bob-Tails Lizard in Watermelon Red. Hung them in 6-10 Feet staging next to a spawning creek.
