Zook,
Did you find any of the indian fish traps in Flat Swamp ? They are there. Hand layed rocks that extend out into the water and sometimes square off. They may be too deep to see but I promise they are there. During the drought we saw several. Bumping stumps in the creek channel with the trolling motor. Those small boats can come in handy sometimes. You may also try to fish Old City Lake in Lexington. No outboards allowed, no trailers allowed,no entry ramp. Only hand held boats with a trolling motor or paddles are allowed. I have probably caught enough 5 lb bass in this lake to fill up the bed of my pick up truck. No pressure on bass, just a bunch of crappie fisherpeople.

To ad a bit to the fish color discussion, in Illinois i fish two farm ponds that are connected by culvert pipe with one having tons of algae and the other pond is quite clear. The fish in the heavy algae pond look almost albino while the other pond produces dark, dark green fish. I'll look and see if i can post some pics.

Color to me is EVERYTHING. I have stated this before and even concerning jigs. This is my opinion. I have tried to not pay attention to color but I always feel like I am leaving out part of the puzzle when I am trying to catch fish. I mainly try to match the hatch in the clearwer waters and when in more stained waters I still try to match the hatch but in the brighter hues.
