Default How do you keep your skirts?

I'm about tired of picking up jigs that have deteriorating skirts on them, the same for spinnerbaits. It seems most of the time the rubber band wears down, even turns to goo. I think maybe I missed some cardinal rule of organizing baits with skirts, anyways how do you guys get them to keep more than 6 months? I saw a show with KVD where he just had all sorts of skirts sealed off in a binder, and he would put one on the bait when needed...is that what I'm gonna have to do?

Some times rubberbands are just gonna break, but I think they break faster when they're out layin around. What kind of spinnerbaits are you using?

talcom or baby powder sprinkled all over the skirt will keep them nice and unstuck. make sure the skirt is dry before putting the powder on them. .
The rubberband that holds the skirt will dry rot from water/sun over a few years.
we used to always just get replacement skirts by the dozens that were one piece cone shaped, no rubberband, the cone held the skirt on the lead. I haven't seen any for sale up here in ages.

You KNEW that was coming from somebody

I try to keep them out of the light-UV will deteriorate them, but if they start getting gummy or break I just replace them.

Agree w/ the master. Have little problem w/ strike king skirts. Mine are all kept in a plastic box, out of the heat when possible. My others are usually kept in plastic bags from the dry cleaners until I need them to go out. God, I havent been out dancing in such a long time!

Actually I have a shoulder length brown wig. It really accentuates my eyes, and with bright red lipgloss I really drive em nuts.

man, you seem to have a tough time with skirts on lures....do you leave them in very hot places or in the sun or anything? Theres not really much to storing them..just like any other bait. a moderately cool, dry place that isn't in direct light.

EDIT: it was HulaPopr that asked about skirts breaking before..sorry for the misrepresentation.
