What kind of lake would you rather fish at? One where you can catch 1 and 2 pounder's all day or a lake where you may be able to catch 1 or 2 really large fish on a day of fishing?
Me -- I'm not sure. |

define large fish, in other words, about what weight are you thinking?
sure any time you can get 10-15 one to two pounders is a great day, however any time I can get a couple of bass that are over 5-6 lbs , wouldbe great too! |

Here in Nebraska a really large bass may be 8 lbs. For me up here a large fish is 6 lbs.

Thanks for the reply's so far. I'm new to the site and kind of new to bass fishing. I just started a little less than 2 years ago.
I have a place on a sand pit about an hour and a half west of Omaha where you can catch small bass all day long. The biggest one I've seen pulled out of there is probably 3 to 4 pounds. There is a small pond in my neighborhood about 3 blocks from my house where the fishing is much slower but I consistently catch 5 to 6 pounders there. So far I've learned lots from reading information here. Keep up the good work! |

just depends on the mood I'm in. have a fishin hole around here where you can pull out dinks all day long, I've prolly caught 500+ fish outta this lake, nothing bigger than 1.5 lbs. and the majority under a pound. If I'm already relaxed and feeling patient, I'll go to a big fish lake and wait a little longer for my bites.

Deinatley large fish. Catching large fish has a thrill unlike any other feeling. Dont get me wrong if I ever loose the excited feeling from catching even a small bass I will sell my tackle. OH MY GOD DID I SAY THAT.

Too many variables. Are you fishing a tourney or for fun? I will usually go more for BIGGER Bass because I have caught so many little ones when fishing for fun. As Laser stated, nothing better than catching a Hawg. I've been fishing and caught a big fish early in the day(10 + LBS) and really didn't even care if I caught another Bass the rest of the day. I have personally caught over 50 fish in a day of fishing myself. I love fishing all the time. In a tourney not catching fish really blows. So I would always go for a limit first and then the Hawgs. I you have caught both, and are pretty firm on Bass fishing in general, work on techniques you need work on. And fish areas/lakes that are new to you. I can assure you fishing unfamiliar water isn't simple, especially if it's huge. It make you learn more, and work harder for fish. Just like fishing tidal rivers is a lot different than fishing non-tidal rivers. Learn about all the fishing, and you will be a better angler.

If just 'fun' fishing, which doesn't happen very often I would be happy with a big numbers count. But if I am pre-fishing, or practicing anywhere for my next tourney I want weight!

I'd rather be at a lake that had mid-sized fish in the 3-5lb range.

In the event that your catching alot of 1-2 lbers out of a small pond then they "may" be over stocked and won't grow much bigger. Thats when C-R is out of the question. Theres a pond right up the road that has an over population of small bass. I see bass in the 1-2 lb range in schools just cruising around. Went "bream" fishing one day a while back and caught 8 LM bass about the same size 1 to 1 1/2 lb. I caught these fish on red worms. If that don't tell you something.
