				 | Trailer guide ons question

I was wondering how much clearance there should be between the hull of the boat and the guide on. I installed a set of board style quide ons I bought yesterday from BPS. When they are adjusted so that the boards are as close to the boat as the brackets will allow, there is still about a 3-4 inch gap between the boards and the hull. Is this normal? I thought the guide ons were supposed to fit fairly flush against the hull of the boat. |

Actually bud you have them adjusted very well. They are designed as a guide on and not rails so to speak. beleive me if they where any tighter on a windy day you would get VERY frustrated trying to load your boat.

It's interresting, because I was unsure and called BPS technical support to see if this was the proper gap and the person I was talking to told me the boards should be close to flush with the hull. But I then called Cabellas support and they told me there should be a gap of at least 3 inches just as you said 1FASTLASER. I always assumed the boards should be flush to help support the boat while in transport on the trailer. But I can see what you mean about needing that 3-4 inch gap when trying to get the boat back on the trailer in choppy water.

Keithdog, for what it is worth, my trailer has about 3 1/2 inches between the boat and the guides. Ya' know, ever since I got my new boat, I have been second guessing all kinds of things.
