				 | Notification of response to thread?

Is there a way to be automatically notified, via e mail, when a response is made to a thread you have subscribed to? I'm not sure if I am being clear. I want to be notified about responses to post I have made. How do you do that? Thanks, Buddy |

Hey Buddy, This feature does exist, however, I may have disabled for various reasons. I will have to check whether I did or not and get back to you. In the mean time.. do the following to set your account to email you anytime someone responds to a thread you have subscribed to: Click on "User CP" on the upper-left of the navbar. Then on the left column, click "Edit Options". Then there will be a drop-down menu about subscription settings... you will want to set it to "Instant Email Notification". Or something along those lines. And again, it may or may not work... I will look and see if I disabled it prior and let you know. But set it to that anyway just in case. Let me know if you have any problems. I'll be in touch shortly. Kevin

I think you had it disabled because once you post to a thread you are automatically subscribed to it. I would like it if you would have it set up to where you are not automatically subscribed to a thread once you post to it. It makes it difficult to find the ones that I want to subscribe to.

Well I followed the directions and found that the e-mail response was turned off. I turned it on and posted above. I was looking around today and noticed that some had added to a thread and I had not received a notification. I went back and found it was turned off again. Hmm.....I turned it on again and went back to the forum and immediately returned and it was turned off again. Something way above my head is going on. HELP! Buddy

Hey Buddy, Sorry for getting back to you so late. I looked into it and found that I did indeed disable the "email notifications" feature. The reason is to prevent the mail service providers... such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc... from seeing floods of emails coming from BassFishin.Com everytime threads are posted to. These mail ISP's generally do not like a lot of automated emails being sent from our servers. When it is just you.. it's perfectly fine... but when everyone is using this feature... it sends up red flags, especially considering the emails are very similarly worded. So I hope you don't mind... in the interest of preserving our good standing with the mail service providers in regards to deliverability... I have turned this feature off. It will ensure that a minimal amount of emails sent from BassFishin.Com will be regarded as spam and moved to the recipient's "junk" folders. Thank you for your understanding! Regards, Kevin

The free Hotmail account allows tons of crap through. If you pay, I think it is around $20/year, all of the spam crap goes away. My brother goes this route and loves it.

My hotmail account gets no spam whatsoever, while my college email gets spam almost every day during the school year (and I honestly never signed up for anything bad). It's the free hotmail too. Go figure!
