Stuck at work

Had to spend Saturday at work due to some much needed network maintenance. I did notice one fact though. When the college games are on, this site is a ghost town. I am forced to get scoring updates via sports illustrated. Not super exciting when you read the play after it happens.

I know Zook. I even appreciate that about you all. Just making an observation.
We have USC out here, (about an hour north) but past that, there isn't much at all. San Diego State has a bad High School team trying to play college ball. BYU showed us all that UCLA is years away from being competative again.
I still follow UVA, but outside of the Tech game each year, there is not too much to get excitied about.

Yes I did. I played soccer there. Well played is probably an over statement. I sat the bench and cheered from the sidelines.

Well, you got one of the best educations you can get. Thats good enough. Wish I could have gone to UVa.

Sadly, I got half of that education, at 19 I felt that I was too good to sit the bench so I left the school. I spent some time at Bridgewater College and JMU. Without the scholarship to pay for it all I ended up joining the Marine Corps.
I was too young and dumb to appreciate what I had. I finally got the degree, but not until many years and mistakes later.

You're not alone, and the Marines are a hell of an institution too. People do make mistakes. God knows I made them, maybe had I taken the GPA seriously I coulda gotten into a top school like Sewanee or UVa. That said, Alabama was excellent.

I often say that giving away my scholarship was the worse mistake I ever made. That being said, joining the Corps was the best choice I could have made. Perhaps it is all the butterfly affect on life, but in the end it has worked out for me.
I have a wonderful wife and children. I live in a great part of the country (even if my house is losing money as I type....oops wrong thread)
and have a job I enjoy. I can not say that I would or would not have those same things if I would have stayed on the bench at UVA. So when it is all said and done, I am fortunate for what I have.
