Went out early this morning and they wouldn't touch any topwater baits. Caught 4 on a small crankbait and one on a senko. Nothing but babbies. Where did all the big ones go?

Yep...I think they go where the water is the right temperature and where the food is...in summer, that often means deeper water.

I was out yesterday and had a strange experience too. On 3 occasions I could see a pretty decent size bass that was just sitting there suspended in only like 8 ft of water. It would turn towards my topwaters/cranks, turn with it as it passed, follow it slowly, and then just stop. Tried slowing down, and the bigger bass did the same thing, just slower, lol. However the little babies and bluegill were swarming everything I threw. |
