				 | I forgot your name...Cuz!

I sold motorcycles and atvs for many years and during the course of a month would talk to hundreds of people and sell scores of bikes. Problem was that due to the sheer volume of people I couldn't remember many of their names or even what they bought. On the other hand I was likely the only person that sold them a GSX13R{or whatever} 3 years ago. So when they would come in it would go like this>>>> Hey Ken how ya been? Hey whassup (Doc)( my friend) (chief) (pal) (dude) (slugger) (cuz) (homie) (home boy) (killuh)(man)(my main man) (wild man) (Kochese) etc etc What do yall call someone that knows your name but you don't know theirs? Or do you just hurt their feelins and tell um? ***Best/most original gets a big bag of my custom hand poured original famous floating tri-color heavy salt & pork fat & anise & phemorome infused 4" finesse wacky guarenteed to catch a mess worms!

Having worked in corrections for 5 years now and seeing so many faces and names I feel your pain. I usually go with "man" or "ma'am". Have to keep it professional because you never know what will happen if you call someone "son" "homie" or "chief". Say it to the wrong person and the next thing you know you're getting sued for being racist or prejudiced.

I will put that down as your official entry. If someone wants to sue me for calling them "son" "homie" OR "chief"....well I'm just like Grandma's turnip patch..."come on and get you a mess"

Mark I'm not sure if I understand calling someone "Dave"....unless of course its your way of paying homage to the immortal ARLO GUTHRIE and his timeless hit GYPSEY DAVEY!! "saddle me up my old buckskin mare I've got to find my lady"

In the Customer Service Industry it is important to remember customer names, when we fail to do so we generally use Sir or Mam.

No entry in the worm sweepstakes? Seriously I took a great deal of pride in my work and still have a passion for motorsports, but trying to remember 60-80 new names a month? forgettaboutit! Plus since I never had a "Sir or Mam" type relationship with them the day they bought the unit I always felt that would have been more disengenuous than "chief"..buying or selling a motorcycle is way more casual and fun and laid back than cars.

I don't sell cars or bikes, I am in the aircraft industry, the people that I typically deal with would not find it amusing to be called slick or ace. They are typically spending in the tens of millions of dollars, and demand a certain amount of respect. We generally do not even address them by their first name unless they have asked us to do so. We try to keep the professionalism very high. It would be seen as disrespectful and a sign of your inexperience if you failed to remember your customers name. Just a different market.

ACE would be appropriate, maybe I will try that next time I have a chance... NOT Last week we had Gene Sernin, last man on the moon, and William Shatner. For the life of me I wanted to say beam me up.

I know a guy at work who often calls people he works with "amigo", even though he knows all of our names. I'd go with something like "How ya doin', amigo?" or "How's it goin', amigo?".

Depending on how they look and personal impression, I go with a What's up...mane, man, chick, puss, baby, killa', or hamma'. And if they have a distinguished look, I go with the respectful sir or mam.

How in the world could anybody(even a pilot) not take that as a compliment. As a matter of fact I might just start demanding that all my friends and family start refering to me as Hamma. Congrats! As of 9:50pm EST according to a Fox News unofficial poll you are currently in a statistical tie for first place with bassboogieman (OFFICER)

Interesting, he was the guest speaker at a conference we hosted. He was allot more personable than I had imagined and a heck of allot funnier.
