				 | Lake Biwa Japan

This bass is 21 1/2 inches long and 11.53 lbs on certified scales. Lake Biwa is where the current world record LG Mouth was caught by Manabu Kurita.

So just think when that Bass is more like 25 or 28 inches, what's it going to weigh?! They feed them well over there. Kurita said he missed a bigger bass(bigger than the record) a week prior to catching that record. After seeing the record, and the fish above, I don't doubt it. Those Cali fish better start bulking up!

It's crazy a bass that length here in KS would probably weight slightly over half of what that fish weights.

A bass in kansas weighing half as much would mean its 5 times better as caught in its natural habitat. That tie for a world record was imported to where growing conditions exceed the norm,it cost about 1200 bucks to launch meaning rich or company backed, and caught in an area one isnt supposed to stop in.Doubt if troller would normally count unless one could see actual forward movement, commercial net fishermen dont toss theirs there. One of the docks they use and they told him of it hanging around. Read the stories each later one a lil different. Igfa messed up on that one.Think we need a usfa and not an igfa, who cares what they caught in brazil etc. Ps stocking in africa now, guess in order to overcome and eat small crocs will get big n strong. |

So couldn't the same be said of the southern strain bass in CA, where the next "USGFA" record is most likely going to come from?

Not sure the original source...dude on another board I visit sent it to me> We use it on the board to figure weights in a WR format...good equalizer for contests.

These overfat bass are disgusting to me. There is no glory in catching something that is sick and obese. No sport in it at all. The records that are being set are as meaningless as the MLB homerun record.

No, I think those bass are unatural and unsporting. Yea, I land every fish I catch. I dont complain about mudcats, I even see value in snakeheads and silver carp, but that doesnt mean I would sing a rosie tune about an abomination of nature.

Some of those gatorzilla emails report that the 18 foot gator or whatever came out of a lake in alabama with no gators at all...just an aside.

Going back to that bass that we have a picture of at the top of the thread, what is next? Pump a fish full of steroids? Genetically engineer salmon to grow 3 times as fast? Its a brave new world.

i am sorry, but i think it's what everyone here is thinking or wants to think......the japanese may or may not be pumping their lakes with steriods and such to make the bass there grow bigger and fatter jsut so they can hold the world record. which i think is pretty lame.how else can oyu explain that fish? i mean it looks like it was put in an aquarium and feed mroe than it could eat. the belly on that thing is not fitting to the length and looks liek billy said.........GROSS. how well does that fish swim? looks to me like ti can't swim very good with the little fins and all. i jsut don't think this is a very good example of how to produce a world record bass. looks like it came outt a labortory or something.

Obviously swims well enough to catch what it needs to eat. Back again to the fish in CA, put there for the sole purpose of growing a record, are they any less of fish than what is in Japan?
