				 | Senkos and other plastics

Hi I live in Pa, I went out today and got skunked! I did not catch one bass, I did catch two northern piles, I was using senkos, shadalicious and the baby brush hog all Texas rigged. My question is this a good time to use plastic bait or what would you prefer, it was 75 degrees today

To answer your question yes this is a good time to use them, but personally I don't think that there is really a bad time to use soft plastics. Anytime you need to slow down a little to get bites is a great time to throw a soft plastic bait of some kind.

Exactly Kory! Hey Al, welcome to the site. This is a great time to be throwing those kind of baits, although the fish are the ones who'll really let you know what they want. You didn't mention the wacky rigging senkos. If you haven't tried it yet, you need too, the bass tear it up! And to me catching any species of fish counts against getting skunked. Enjoy the site! -Mark |

Try wacky rigging the senkos as woody says. It can get you bass when nothing else seems to be working.

Doesn't matter what the outside Temp is, it matters what the Water Temp is. Your Bass up there should be staging for the spawn. I'd go with some Rat-L-Traps right now.

Since were talking Senkos, what do ya all think of wacky rigging with a wacky jig? And, would you even consider fishing senkos with narrow diameter 20 pound braided line which is about the diameter of 6 pound mono? Not wanting to take over your thread Al, just thought this would tie in nicely and help us both.

 Is there a reason you're only using 20lb braid? | |
