The fish is nothing to brag about per se but the fact she (and a dozen of her bff's) wanted this Topwater plug this morning is music to my eyes.

Nice bassin Ken. Any idea of the water temp in your area? The waters moved up to 48, 49 here quickly after ice out (last Mon. ) but all week we've had nothing but cold rain, sleet and even a little snow so my guess is it's stll hovering in that same. Rivers were running like 39, 40 still but that water is obviously coming from up north.

Temp at 6:30 am was 68.......hit 72 by 11.It's always amazing to me to ease around the shallows in Dec and Jan and see absolutely no sign of life. You'd swear the lake was completely devoid of life. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere the shoreline is crawling with life....baitfish-bluegill-minnows-dads-. Every single one of those critters is out there all winter somewhere doing something.....then again maybe I'm just too easily amazed.I've always believed that winter fish move deep because of the "buffer" that deep water offers AND because when they DO get hungry that's where it's at.
