I got a 7 foot AllStar flippin stick, I had another flippin stick but it got stolen, I think it may have been a abu garcia, the handle was way to big in diameter due to the telescoping action, I like the allstar better, its one rod, no telescoping. Cost me $188.00 back about 10 years ago, still looks and works fine.

It all depends on how much flipping your going to be doing and is it just straight flipping into thick grass or will you be pitching to shoreline cover with it as well, the reason I say this is I pitch way more than I flip and to sparse cover the majority of the time. I have a bps extreme 7"6" flipping stick I got on sale at bps for $60.00 It serves it's purpose for fishing thick grass and dropping jigs and pegged baits into matts of grass, as well as using a frog or mouse on top of thick slop. Around here they kill that grass because it chokes the whole lake so I only really need it for about 2 months when I fsh that lake, If I did it all the time I would probably get a more expensive and lighter rod. The majority of my regular grass and cover (wood etc) fishing is done with a 7' heavy action rod, which is a lot lighter and easier to manage especially all day. So my advice is to determine how often you are going to be using this rod before you go and spend a boat load of money on one, if you are going to be fishing some grass and then other areas of the day say with same rod it will put a whooping on you in an 8 hour day. So take into consideration your needs for this rod an base your decision on that.

Bass Kicker, Its better to be able to handle the rods before buying.I recommend buying a flipping stick that has a softer tip action. This softer action allows you to get the lures under motion without alot of extra arm movement.Too stiff a action is difficult to pitch jigs accurately, they seem to favor going a different direction than desired.I hope this helps. The other reason is when the bite is off ,the softer action will boat you more fish. It allows you to feel the fish before the fish feels the resistance from the rod tip and lets go.The rod tip can be flexible and not hurt the strength of the power, the lower section of the rod gives you the strength to horse them out. I hope this helps you.P N J

Was using an All-Star 7'6" rod, but found it to be a little stiffer than I really prefered. Granted it's a great rod for flippin but for pitchin under trees I think it's a bit stiff for a gentle presentation. Now I use a Team Diawa LT&Tuff rod (7'6") thats a little lighter on the tip but with good backbone.

thats a good idea if you can get the feel for a flippin' stick before you buy it, many have a handle so big in diameter, its like holding onto a broom handle..

G.loomis IMX 844, or an 843. Don't like any telescopic rod. I don't flipp hardly ever but pitch constantly.

if i was going to get another flippin stick i lone my bionic blade from bass pro it is cheep and has good feel. all i do is flip and pitch.the rod loads up good and jerks there head tward you witch makes fighting them alot easyer. if you have ever used a gloumis frog rod or flipping stick you know what i mean by loading up. gloumis is a great flipping stick but be ready when they load up because they can fly to the oppisite side of the boat. if you want something cheep then get a bionic blade.
