C-rig line question

My question is if you use a leader for a c-rig do you use momo or fluro and why? My quess is mono for floating baits and fluro for baits that you want to keep on the bottom. Any other reasons or prefrences?

I actually prefer a Mojo-rig to the c-rig. Same idea, just different style of weight. I believe it goes through the vegetation much better. This is really the only time I use a leader. I put the Mojo weight on the Powerpro, then if I feel like it a glass bead. I then tie a swivel to the Powerpro, and then I use P-Line 20 lb copolymer tied to the end of the swivel. I will suggest you tie up the leader before you attach it to the main line, so you can get the Palomar knot tied on all parts of it. I also will use the premade c-rigs when fishing areas with less vegetation.

Good question JB. I have tried the carolina rig down here and it dont work so well cause of the green muck in the vegatation down here. If anyone has a fix for this problem PLEASE lemme know. Its a great way to find a limit of fish.

Back to the original question I use Flouro mainly because the low stretch. I use 50 lb Powerpro for the main line.

Mostly I use flouro. even though it does sink. Granted, when I'm using floating baits i.e. xxx lizards I might be taking a chance. The fish are still biting the bait though. I guess I shouldn't complain.

I use mono because it floats. Unless I want the bait on the bottom then I will use fluorocarbon and I like it better cause I can feel better.

The Mojo is the way to go for me. One of my new fishing freinds down here, Kirk, who I met with Bassintom swears by the c-rig on the St Johns river. He also caught a few at Stickmarsh c-rigging. With all the vegetation, that's the reason I use the Mojo weight. Some of the lakes I fish are clearer, so I go with no glass beads, just the weight and swivel for the click. I really pitch more than anything here, because of the thick stuff. I know that's where the bass are, so I go after them. In other local lakes other than Wildcat, the c-rig has been a good producer, but again in the rivers the spinnerbaits has been tops for me. I guess it's all relative, The c-rig/mojo-rig is proven to be a good fish catcher for me, but you always gotta find what the fish want and when they want it, just like up north. But it's hard to beat the Paca pitched, or a fluke twitched
