Sounds like it's time to switch to a jig n pig. You won't catch too many small fish on a jig, especially with a big chunk trailer. Focus on big fish baits. Big spinnerbaits with oversized blades can help you home in on the bigger fish in the lake. And don't forget to try a swimbait every now and then. It may just be that where you are fishing doesn't have a large population of big fish. Some places, especially ponds, are drastically devoid of 2+ pound fish because of the rigors of the seasons. So just toss some bigger baits and hope for the best. |

you should try fishing on top only during low light situations and fishing on the bottom with a texas rigged plastic worm, around 7'' on the bottom and in cover.

Don't always assume that ponds have small fish though. As the oldies here know, I fish primarily in a 20 acre pond near my house and regularly catch 1-5 lb bass (which up here in Maine is a decent size).
