live bait or artificial
I have found where ever i fish using artificial lures always catch me bigger fish than live bait. Is this same with everyone else, or just me?

ive fished minnows once and lures the same day and i have to agree...i was using minnows and caught numbers but no real size...switch to a zoom fat albert grub and caught a 2.5 pounder...nothing special at all but beats the half pound dinks...

Yep-for the most part. Seems if I am fishing with someone using live bait I always outfish them. Although Lizards caught a real toad on live shiners earlier this year, then caught a bigger one on a fluke.
To me, live bait fishing is boring. With artificials I always doing something.

yeah i also catch annoying fish like bluegills with minnows and worms. but with lures i dont have to worry about that. i catch more on live but they are way smaller.

oh boy, it sounds like some of yall ain't using your noggin. If you fish with minnows you can expect to catch a broader range of fish than you would catch with a 10"-14" shiner. If livebait fishing is boring, you ain't using big enough bait

I used to fish with live bait when I was a kid, but no more. I haven't used live bait for 35 years. I purchased it for the kids when they were small and baited their hooks, you know the dad thing. I only use artificial.

Yeah, big native golden shiners are like candy for bass. Only time I use 'em is during the dog days of summer. I put one out with a bobber and then throw artificials. When the bobber gets jumpy, I stop the artificials, and get ready to hook up with a 5# plus fish...

I am Anti-Livebait. The only time I will use it is for a beginner.
But I have seen some NICE bass caught on worms...

I enjoy using artificials more than live bait bc you are more intuned to what you are doing. When my dad and I go to stickmarsh he refuses to go without live bait (big slab shiners). It seems here that fishing with these shiners proves to be pretty entertaining, but I am usually throwing a crankbait behind the boat. Some of the biggest fish we have caught there have been on live bait. The only thing I have noticed is that it is alot tougher to catch fish on artificials after we have caught a few on the shiners

yeah artificials are easier in the way of not having the baiting the hook so much. you have control of everything it does too. and you dont have sit to and wait

I don't care what yall say, I've caught a bass over 5 pounds on a nightcrawler, and another 4 pounder the same way. I dont do it often, but sometimes I'll buy a dozen and try 'em just for fun.
(The fish in my avatar was caught on a nightcrawler)

I love using lures too, its just im not very experienced so I haven't caught a zillion fish on lures, so I can't really vouch for them.

I love fishing for bass. A couple nights ago I caught a good sized bass but I caught it on a nightcrawler on the bottom. I have never caught a bass on the bottom with a live worm before. I usually end up catching catfish on the bottom. The weather has been real hot here and I'm wondering if I caught it on the bottom because of the hot weather. Nancy.
