				 | the pike keep getting my bass bait

Does anyone have any advice in how to keep the pike from eating my spinnerbaits. there is nothing worse than seeing that snake on my line after getting a solid hookup on a fish that you hope is a bass. Today i nailed one on the texis rigged worm you guys reccomended, which by the way work wonders. I thought for sure i had hooked into a nice small mouth, well until i realized the fish was trying to drag me under the water. Ohh, and one more question for you guys, i caught a 12.5'" crappie(.75lbs), should i be celebrating a good fish or is that pretty normal for that fish. I have never caught one before but heard they are mostly about bluegill sized.

Pike love spinnerbaits, that is one of the hazards of using them up north. On a side note they are pretty tastey when you want to spend the time to clean em. And that is a pretty good size crappie too.

You can use wire leaders, but then you might not get a Bass to bite it. People stop into the shop ask me what Pike like, I tell them anything that doesn't have a steel leader. Pike are very good eating and the Y bones are easy to take out.

You're a bit farther north, but I'm guessin' what we call a Jack is your pike? Don't use white baits, problem solved down here |

Around here pike will hit the same baits and presentations that the bass do. For the most part the pike stay in different parts of the ponds so i try to identify where the majority of them are and stay away from them
