Just talked to the local DNR here that is stationed at Hueston Woods Park and Lake.....get this:
A few years ago most of the ohio lakes began stocking walleyes and saugeyes..it makes for some great fishing in the later part of april and then about now(mid oct.- december), plus the meat is excellant. So...at places like Indian Lake, people are lined up on the banks and also in boats jiggin a minnow and getting thier limit of 6 per person per day. A few days ago the dnr guy noticed that a small boat of mexicans were trolling the hueston lake, over and over...the bad thing about a 600 acre lake inside a big state park is, that the local dnr's just sit and watch anglers with binocolurs, looking for anglers to check limits, size , license etc... finally after a couple of days of trolling, the ranger got in thier boat and pulled the guys over, and discovered the mexicans had been pulling fishing nets and (on that day), had over 2100 lbs of fish in them! I'm thinking how the heck do you even pull a net full of fish into a small boat in the first place??? They all were arrested and haven't heard what will happen to them. ![]() |

Interesting that you mention the mexicans and their illegal fishing tactics. Similar-type behavior was observed at a local lake near my house. Check out this thread addressing their very same issue that you mentioned:
http://gsseagle.proboards31.com/inde...3750824&page=1 The people who have no fishing license, no regard for the law, and keep every fish that they catch are poachers. Nothing more than common thieves. Last edited by Wishing2BFishing; 10-23-06 at 02:29 PM. |

Must say, it does happen here. But the FWC is pretty good, don't care who you are they will get ya. Couple FF's got hit for minor stuff. One measured fork length vs. tail length. Got hit for oversized fish, another got hit for one egg on a lobster. Couldn't even see the thing w/o a light.
