I got a aluminum 16 foot v bottom and was wondering if I should put a live well in it or just go with a cooler and put them on ice. or is putting the fish on ice bad for them.or is the boat just to small for a live well thanks guys for any input

Use the cooler and just hook a live well in it. Without water the fish will die.

Either will work. Before live wells, we used a cooler with ice in it and no problems. Besides thats what commercial fishing boats do, dump them in ice.

You mention Commercial and ice. Are fishing to keep and eat or fishing for tournament?? If you're fishing to keep and eat then yes Ice is perfectly fine. And I'll even give you a good tip. Put you ice in (about 1/2 way) then mix up a very salty water mix and mix that with the ice creating a slushy. We use it all the time except we just take the Saltwater thats around us to create the slurry. This mix will freeze your fish within a day or two, it's that cold. |
