				 | Rod and Reel Selection

I want to get a pitching and flipping rod and reel setup, and need your help. I am going to go with the bionic blade rod, but i'm not sure if I should get the Revo S or the shimano Citica E. Need some help. Also on the length of the rod; I was thinking 7 ft' as I do a lot of shore fishing. |

Hi Austin. The 7 foot rod would be a good choice. I'd stick with that. As for the reel, I would take the Revo S hands down over the Citica E. But I'm a Garcia man. I have a couple Revos and can't imagine buying anything else after using them. Garcias quality is second to none. Plus they have an excellent drag system you can tighten down good and solid if need be.

Either one ought to serce you well. To even the score, I will say Citica E.

I don't have one of the new Citica's but I have the old model. I also have the Revo S. Until I try the new Citica E I would go with the old Citica. I don't dislike the Revo's because I have the STX and Premier also. Just my pp over the two you mention.

Can't help you with the reel... I know a lot of people like them both! I hear the revo is smoother, and the Citica is lighter... But as far as the rod. Get the B blade!! My dad has one and it great! Very light and weighted towards the butt, it also very sensitive! I'll use it now and then for fishing t-riggs, and Flipping and pitching, works great! He has a 7' one, and where both shore huggers (as I like to call us) and use 7' rods! ~Good luck and good fishin!

I have a fwe complaints about BPS rods. One, I personally don't like the handle (power Hump Grip), but that's just personal preference. Second, I think even the more expensive BPS rod aren't weighted very good. I'd take a look at the Shimano Clarus I believe it's in your price range. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descp...NO-SHCLCR.html Also, I'd go with a 7'-7'6" MH if you don't fish a lot of really heavy cover. If you do, go with a H power rod. As for the reel, I've used reels cheaper than the S and more expensive, but I think it should work great for what you're doing. I just recently bought s a Citica (like two days ago) and haven't really gotten to try it out. IT is my first Shimano Baitcaster, so I can't tell you if they're good. But from using it a bit, I Think it's a great reel for the price. And don't forget, buy any Abu reel 109.99 and up, get a 20 dollar rebate. BB

Yep, I'm amazed I am going against my fav reel brand here, but with the drag on the revo you can't argue against the benefits.

i have several extreme reels and a couple revo stx reels and although the extremes perform well imo,the stx really shines when pitching.you can about flip with any reel, very little spool work with flippin, but when pitching the smoother reel will really shine.the guys may be right about the sx model,i cant say because i have never owned or cast one.in the end if i was looking for a pitching reel and had the money it would be no doubt the revo stx would be mounted on my rod |
