Default Is It The Weather ?

I went out sunday and whacked the fish. I mean , I had 7 keepers in less than 2 hours. Why cant I do that during a tournament ? Anyway , the wind was howling , and sunny. Monday I didnt fish. Tuesday went out again and had the same luck as sunday. Caught keepers like crazy , this time in a differant lake. Same windy conditions , fished the same type of area , riprap bank. Tuesday the midwest storm went threw , and as some of you know they say that was the lowest the barometric pressure has ever been recorded. Now , we have also had a full moon , and a near full bright moon the last week as well. Was it all of the above conditions that made for the best fishing so far in my life ? Or , just one or the other ?

Probably a combo of low pressure and wind. Wind makes the water choppy, which scatters light keeping the fish from getting a good look at lures, and they like low pressure. Also, if it was super choppy, then the o2 levels were probably up making the fish more active.

I also went Sunday and Tuesday...caught fish and a couple decent ones...but would call it difficult and not fun. Most were still deep. Thought they would be active, but not so much for me.

Windy weather has always been productive for me. The increased waves as and wind as John said adds more oxygen to the water and diffuses sunlight. Also, it will create current which will stir up food for the smaller fish to feed on and in turn bring out the preditors such as bass. I will often have great luck tossing baits against the wind blown shoreline. I think the baitfish are concentrated there and in turn, so are the bass.

Guy on fishin.com forum was at KY Lake and was doing nothing before teh storm rolled through. Immediately after teh storm, he was absoutely destorying the bass. He said teh shad were so think on a point he found, the sonar couldnt find bottom. It seems odd because teh usual thinking is that Bass hate REALLT low pressure and that fishing shuts down after a major front changes everything real drastically. BUt it seems they went opposite on us. Dad and I are gonna give Barren a try tomorrow...

I went out monday and had a good day, same conditions as you mentioned. I think the storms you got we had, I live in Ohio. Anyway I did good to. I got a 5 pounder and a 3 pounder, couple keepers too.

You guys are lucky to even get out on the water. I'm pretty close to ice fishing up here!
Its been in the low 30's at night and mid to high 30's during the day. Many are without power because of the heavy winds. Ours was out the other day for six hours and some won't get it back until possibly Monday. Quite a few downed trees. We did miss the tornados that many got.

That's one of my favorite patterns Keith.
