Mine has that feature and it worked for the first month. The pin will not move as it is rusted in place.. never to be removed again..

It saves a lot of space. Also I put my padlock through the open hole in the swinging part so that nobody can line it up to steal it.

I can't imagine using one in salt water, like Capn Mike said.

I have one that works just fine, though I am landlocked.
