| BassFishin.Com Premier Elite | Don't open if you don't like spiders! (pic!)

You were warned! Found this guy the other while I was mowing the yard. It was fun laying on the muddy ground with my tripod and camera sprawled above me to get this shot. But it was definitely worth it. Finally got a chance to set up a nice insect shot with my macro lens. I have to say, shooting spiders is nice. They hold still, don't jump/run/fly away, and don't really care how close I get as long I don't touch em. BB

Dude, forget pharmacy. You already have great skill with a camera. You could be doing the Sports Illustrated swimsuit layouts, fashion shoots, Playboy, even Papparizzi, or ugggg National Geographic. All those women, scantilly clad, naked. Oh, yeah you could be right there, and you choose to shoot spiders? I am beginning to wonder, Anthony............................ Last edited by bassboogieman; 10-06-12 at 09:58 AM. |

Very nice capture, Anthony. The way the color turned out is very unusual. Sort of a Fall palette. Professional-level criticism only: maybe just a bit more depth of field would have improved it slightly. I totally understand the challenge of that if your macro is anything like the Nikkor 105mm. On the Nikkor, the focal length actually changes with the focus, even though it's a "prime". By the time you get it adjusted (for an amateur like me), your subject, even a spider, has probably moved. I really wish I could justify the expense of a true macro lens.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the compliments! Quote:
I'm shooting with a Canon Rebel XSi. That shot was taking with a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens. Quote:
I love the macro lens, I love shooting with it, and I love the sharp results. The only thing I don't love is the shallow DOF. I've been looking info DOF Stacking software, but like I said, I won't be doing anything until it's on an IPS monitor. Canon's 100mm Macro's focal length doesn't really change with focus. This should make focus stacking possible once I find a highly recommended software. Quote:
