				 | Going back to school

I know it's hard to tell that I aint very edmucated. But truth be told I quit school in the 9th grade as soon as I turned 16. Yup do the math and you'll find a flunked a couple grades. Hard to pass when you spent more time skipping school to go smoke hams n such. Why go back at this late stage in my life? It's just always been something I regretted. As I matured and began to realize what a mistake it was, I was already working full-time and to be honest still had my head too much into getting drunk when I won't working to do anything about it. Gonna change that. A lot of people have asked why not just get a GED. That's partially a personal thing, if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it right. I'm not going to settle for a GED. I want the HSD and I'm gonna get it, then move on to classes that can help me hopefully find a way to make a better income. I can't do the physical labor I used to do because of my health problems so I'm gonna try and find a better life with something else. A lot of people keep trying to tell me a GED is the equivalent and something as a HSD. It's not. And I know from my experience being a dept manager, employers do not look at it as the equivalent and certainly not the same thing. So I shall start my student orientation on the 19th, take my placement test in there some where and hopefully score a 9.0 so I can go on to the HS classes. Otherwise I'll be in the ged classes for a refresher till I eventually do score that 9.0. Pray for me please. lol

WTG, Donald. Totally proud of you. Many people in your situation would have too much foolish pride. It is never too late in life to better yourself. I think when you get your diploma, it will be a tremendous weight off of your shoulders. And yes, the career opportunities will improve as well.

Its not how many years like 10th,11,12 its how many credits, figure out what credits you need, take just those classes even if you have to double up,taking english twice in a day. By doing a second summer term you can do it all in a little over a year I think. That is if you apply yourself,no doubt have the upstairs part anyone that can animate like you do should be an engineer. Goodluck |

Thank ya all. The only thing that really worries me is math. Fractions give me a fit and algebra just makes no sense to me what so ever.

My hats off to you Donald! It takes pride and determination going back as well as a dose of courage. With that in mind, I'm sure you will do well, even with the math as you will be far more focused now that when you were a kid. Proud of ya buddy.

Glad I aint the only one! Math is by no means my strong point. Only taking two years in highschool and am already through with it. I know it'll come back to haunt me in college (tech school), but it is what it is.

I agree with everybody else.....grab them books and growl.....why not?.....it would be a shame to let pride stand in the way of what you want. There may be other less obvious benefits of returning to High School grasshopper. Perhaps the school has a wrestling team? With your age/size/weight you would probably soon be "dominating the Dojo"
