i found a new pond that is full of bass and big bluegill. the pond is heavily vegitated with thick grass, the only lures you can fish effectively are frogs, toads, and weedless stick worms. the past few times that i have fished the pond i have gotten into some odd fish. i will feel the bite or see the strike and when i set the hook the line just cuts. i was fishing a 3x strike king finnesse worm on top and i saw the fish take it. i missed the fish but when i was inspecting the worm there were deep cuts in it. i realized then that i might be dealing with gar. but even then i would think that i could see their dorsel fins on top. they are definately not turtles because they strike like fish. i live twenty miles south of houston texas and i know it sounds weird, but today i swear that i saw a two foot striped bass jump out of the water. i thought that these striped bass were prodominitely in large reseviors in the north. if any one has any suggestions please reply, i am going to try steel wire and try to look at these slimy creatures up close in person.
