Default Chickahominy Lake and River

The Chick is a tributary of the James river and is loaded with cypress trees, marsh vegetation, pads and grass. The river has a small dam that creates a small lake that holds bass, crappie, bowfin, pickerel, gar, and bluegill. The river is loaded with cypress trees as well as arrowhead pads, elephant ear pads, hydrilla and many different types of grasses.

I fished two days last weekend and caught a few nice bass. Fishing was tough on both the lake and river for some reason. This time of year the river should be producing 50 fish days but not last weekend. I ended up with only 8 keepers that weighed 13 pounds but was still enough to end up in second place. I did lose two fish that would have won it and I learned a lesson on both of them.

Check out the scenery......of course the last one is Horney Toad heaven!!!
