senkos on weedy flats

I live in florida and I fish a lake that is filled with dense vegetation (reeds)
I have been using a senko recently because it is the only lure I have that won't snag that much. I haven't had that much luck with this technique.
What could I be doing wrong. I am fishing for postspawn bass. Could it be that at the time I was fishing there were no bass in the area or maybe it was the color of my lure( pearl in ultra clear water). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ps. I am letting the senko sink to the bottom and then bouncing it along the weeds
