Default The 10 lbs curse

Earlier this year I caught the same 10lbs hawg twice in the same week. I was ecstatic to say the least. Ever since then I feel like I've been cursed. I think I've caught about 8-12 fish since late Feb when I caught the hawg, mostly dinks, nothing over 2-3 lbs. . I haven't been able to get out on the water near as much, when I do my outings seem like they're jinxed or cut short for some reason or another. I plan to get out on the water before sun-up but don't get to the lake until 10-11am (because of lifes responsibilities, sure sucks being an adult ) after the bite has shut off. Those times I do get to the like at the right time I'll paddle to a good spot and by the time I get there lightning storms roll in. Or weeks will go by without me being able to get out there and when I do, its been so dry that oxegen levels are low, air temps are 100+ and water temps are 90+. There's been instances where the boat has been swamped. Another time I spooled up some new power pro, made a long cast, let the river current take take the lure even further way to the point my spool was almost bare, then noticed a bad tangle. As I was untangling the mess I hear a loud splash towards my lure, look up and see a big gator swimming off with my crank bait (guess as I was untangling the line it caused the lure to just bobble and wiggle enough to get Mr. Gators attention). The 12-14 ft gator wasn't any match for my 20 lbs power pro when he shook his head, but what really made me mad, the line broke near the spool, not the gator. Mr. Gator ended up taking close to 150 yards of PP that morning. Today I saw everytype of fish you will ever find in a southern reservoir EXCEPT the species I was fishing for.

My favorite lake to fish was closed last year. On a good day I got sick of catching so many fish, on a bad day I'd catch 5-10 keepers. I could go there any time under any conditions and find what the fish wanted within an hour. US Forestry service ended up closing down the dirt trails that led to that lake and can no longer get there. I think I'm gonna get a new hobby, maybe dynamite or 240v, one of those should put me on the fish. Oh well, guess it could be worse, I could live up north and not be able to fish 12 months out of the year thats when I check myself into a mental hospital.
