WOW what a evening of bass fishing we just had.
First time out for us, last week was the blizzard with 15 inches of snow, 7 days later we take the boat out about 5:30 till about 7:30. Started out fishing a big jig deep in cover, nothing. We also tried cranking deep rapalas and throwing a punkin seed worm, still nada. Denny whips out a silver / black manns -1, i had a war torn crawdad minus one that had most of the paint off of the bellly from last year. I'm thinking these fish arent going to come to the surface to hit a lure ..WWRONG! Denny nailed one about 14 inches, i get one about 12, then he gets 3 more in the 3lb. range, i get 3 more in the DINK size , maybe 11 inches or 12. It sure felt great! march 15th, air temp was 45 when we launched, sun came out with 9 mph NNE wind. water temp was 38-40. All fish came out of 3 feet of water, next to the drops. All the fish except his biggest two were very whitish from being deeper in the winter. What a way to start off the year! Neither one of us took our camera's we figured nothing was going to bite like they did! ![]() |
