At what point did you get serious ?

This is one of those questions that everyone will answer differently . A lot of you I know have always fished , I myself fished when I was younger and then drifted away from the sport through my teenage years and as my children started to get older we found our way back and now fish every chance we get which has in turn brought my father, brother, and a couple friends back into the fold as well . So in ending I guess the question is a what point did you choose to try to be better than your average weekend fisherman , and how do you think our sport has affected your life ?
