Well, I learned a valuable lesson last night. Listen to my wife when it comes to the baby. She spends all day with him and "knows" him.
Our little man was running a fever all day yesterday. The doctor told us on the phone that it could be viral and not bacterial (as she has seen it going around with little ones). We should give him tylenol and motrin and it should go away in a few days, but we an appointment anyway today to be sure. We also need to keep him hydrated as well. When I got home, I saw that my boy was really sluggish and whiny. He didn't freak out and want his daddy like normal. Good news though, my wife already had dinner waiting for me , so I fixed myself a plate and sat down on the couch while my wife tended to the little man while I ate. When I finished, I took the little guy so my wife could eat. I had a little cupcake for dessert and thought that the little guy would want a bite or two. I was right, he did and even cracked a smile. My wife came in the room and said, "I don't think that is a good idea. He should have some bread, not a chocalate cupcake." I said, like I knew what I was talking about , "No way. He loves it. See" Boy I was way wrong. Literally 5 seconds after taking his last bite, his tummy made a gurggling sound. I knew what was coming. I tried to turn him towards the floor. But I was unsuccessful. Projectile vomet. Direct hit straight into my lap. Contrary to what you may think, partially processed whole milk, chocalate, and a little bread does NOT smell good. So there I am sitting on the couch with what seems like 5 gallons of puke in my lap. A crying baby that my wife is undressing for the bathtub and my 11 year old daughter just laughing. As I fight back my own urge to let my dinner fly, I hop into the shower. After about 2 minutes in the shower, my wife comes into the bathroom and says, "I told you it wasn't a good idea." I couldn't stop laughing at myself since I knew if it had happened to her, I would be on the ground laughing. Some good news though. His fever seems to be breaking this morning. He has a doctor's appointment before lunch so hopefully he will be fine. Last edited by Fishnngolfn; 10-31-08 at 11:00 AM. |
