I visit the different Dick’s Sporting Goods stores on a regular basis. I’ve always come across some really good deals on baits and combos and other tackle. I had stopped by a new store in a new development about a week ago. They had a good combo on sale for $49.99 (reg. $69.99). It was an Abu Garcia Silver Max paired with a Berkley Lightning rod 6’6 MH IM7. I went back yesterday to see if they still had it since I was in the neighborhood. Yep, they had one combo left and now the price was only $39.99. I grabbed it like it was the last new iphone on the shelf at Best Buy. So you know how we guys think: “well heck, I’m saving an extra $10 bucks over what I thought I was going to pay when I walked in, so I might as well grab $10 worth of lures and hooks and stuff”. So I grabbed some wide gap worm hooks, a pack of plastic worms, and a red crankbait that I’ve been wanting to pick up.
So I waltz up to the counter feeling good about the deal I’m getting and also thinking about going over to this new lake that’s right behind the store. Me and the cashier chat about fishing and using baitcasters. To both of our surprise the combo rang up as only $29.99. “WOW!” we both said. Well looky here…another $10.00 for more lures. Actually what I did was run over to Bass Pro Shops and had it spooled up with 12lb Segar fluorocarbon. I didn’t have it spooled at Dick’s because they have goofed up a couple of spooling jobs for me in the past. Plus BPS is the Mecca for fishing stuff. I just picked up some more stuff there. Over all it was a good evening. |
