My goal this year was to catch my first-ever 5 pound bass. Last year was the first time I ever caught a 4-pounder, so I figured my goal was a pretty lofty one. Well, mission accomplished!
![]() ![]() I went to a local lake tonight to make a few casts before nightfall. I made a dozen or so casts in a couple different spots using a dropshot and was just getting ready to switch to a frog when it happened. It wasn't much of a hit and not much of a fight either, sort of like dragging in dead weight. I was ecstatic to get it to shore, though, because there is a huge bed of weeds near shore and topwater mat to get it through. I am still giddy about the whole thing! 5lb 2oz, 19.5" length, 14.0" girth - 5" Yamasenko (Motoroil with lg red flakes) rigged wacky on a dropshot rig |
