Default Progress Report

Got my downriggers installed:

After I got those done, I spent a good while cussing up a storm (so that is where my parrot get his vocabulary!) working on my battery/charger wiring. Man, I love my boat, but it has flaws, one of them being the piss poor battery compartment design. They're stuck back under the transom area, with both bilge hoses sticking up in front of them, such that you can only really pull one battery out at a time. Sucks trying to attach cables, and get the hold-downs in place. But everything is now working as it should. Charger is humming right along, with 26.7V at my trolling motor receptacle.

Tomorrow, the HB and the MercMonitor are going to come to life.

Oh one more thing...I had to unscrew the plate my shifter is attached to in order to be able to bolt the rod holders into the gunwales, and when I put it back, my engine doesn't want to shift into reverse now. Honestly, I've never tried to shift it into reverse while not running, and I'm uncertain if it's even supposed to do it. It shifts into forward easily enough. I'm not sure what I could have done to cause this (maybe pulled the cable in some odd direction), but I'll unscrew it again tomorrow and see what's up. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to throw them out there.
