I've been fishin the Betsie River at Grass Lake campground for a couple years now, but never hit Grass Lake itself.
The only 2 ways to get to it are, upstream from the campground, or downstream from Green Lake. Sunday I loaded up the kayak and headed upstream. Still not sure what part is the lake and what part is the river, but color me impressed! Reeds and cattails high enough to basically have you fishing in a tunnel. All you can see ahead of you is whether your next turn is a right or a left. If you're caught there in the dark with no light, you're screwed till morning. Nice pockets in the reeds, Guntersville like weeds and nice shallow water. Sunday, a bigun SLAMMED my Jitterbug on my first cast. Lipped him, but he shook free, broke my line, and swam off with some new facial jewelry. Caught a couple that night as well as 3 small pike. Went back tonight. Went 3 times further than Sunday and still haven't found the end of the tributaries. Tons of wildlife were on display. 3 deer, an eagle, blue herons, geese, ducks, muskrats, turtles and snakes. Managed to catch 4 bass tonight. I'm lovin this spot but need to find out how much more there is.
