Poor man's Smallmouth
Not really full-on brag material, but I was kind of bummed about Dale, so I got some meal worms and went to a nearby pond to make some bluegill pay for my suffering.
I hooked what I thought to be a monster bluegill, but within moments, it was apparent it was a good sized channel cat. 5 lbs, and caught on an ultralight spinning reel and 4lb test. Man, was that a fun fight...it made that tiny reel scream in agony, and took about 10 minutes to land.  Try as hard as I could, I could not squint my eyes hard enough to make him look like a Smallmouth, but he will do.
