Yesterday, at lunch a co-worker started to choke on a piece of steak. Another co-worker reached him before I could. The man choking is a larger man and the other man who tried to dislodge the meat is a smaller man. He couldn't get his arms around the choking man. I took his place and did the Heimlich and dislodged the piece of meat on the second thrust. I used to be an EMT years ago and that was the first time I ever used the Heimlich maneuver. I strongly recommend learning this procedure and other basic life saving practices. You never know when you might need to use it on someone.
