Default Buying Christmas Trees For Needy Bass

I was at the local hardware store when I saw a sign that said they were selling all of their extra christmas trees for a dollar apiece. I thought that they would make some great brush piles for my lake, because it doesn't have much structure. I bought twelve the next day and trailered them back home. I am curious about the correct depth to place the trees, on what type of bottom, and what type area that I should drop them. I would also like to be able to drop some jigs down and catch some crappie occasionally. Does anybody have any experience with brushpiles?

Thanks,
culpritworm
