How can I catch Bass in low level water?

I am living in canada,ottawa.I mostly go to some places such as Dows lake,ottawa river,ridau canal and ridau river.Actuely i dont have boat so i am supposed to fish from the beach.Hence i rarly can catch bass.I would be appreciated if some one give some effective tips and tricks to catch bass. Thanks very much.
