She doesnt wanna get on the water
well the ol rude is just aching not to get put in the water anytime soon..
i've had to install the lower unit atleast 7 times trying to get the shifter and all set right.. i finnaly got it done, and put the unit up today for the last time.. and the RTV has to seal overnight.. but.. to get the gear oil in, it has to be done from the bottom right? meaning i have to take it down, once again to get the oil in, correct?

No, you take out the vent plug at the top and put the oil in from the bottom with the engine in the down position untill the oil comes out the top hole. Then replace the top plug and then the lower one. You will lose a bit of oil but not enough to worry about!

Impeller is just half the ordeal. If the water tube isn't sealed either where it goes into the housing or where it goes into the powerhead it wont pump or pump well.
Last year at the get together my motor pissed like a 120 year old man. Ask Mississipp, one night there we took apart my foot, 1 in the morn with a flashlight only to find the impeller was probably ok.

I dont think I'm gonna try that again anytime soon either. It took doing it about 10 times to finally get it right. That outboard was cheap and runs hard but its had enough saltwater throughout its life that it is not something that is good to work on.

hmm..
i put water up to the intake and turned it by vicegrips on the upper gear teeth..careful not to damage the teeth and i got no water out the pipes, so i took that impellar out, put the new one in, and no water.. so i put more water in the barrel.. and tilted it until the waterpump was underwater, and it started flowing.. i said..well, i guess its all supposed to be underwater anyway, so i put it back on the boat, with the old impellar in it, i mean it pumped water before when it was just up to the inlet.. and now it wont.. so i put it in the barrel, crank it.. and i get no water.. so i rev it and water comes out.. so i'm just about ticked enough to take it to my coaches house , drop it off in the yard and say here.. fix it oh and theres air bubbling out from around the bolts of the L/U.. i guess there not tight enough? but after un-installing and installing the L/U 11 times now, i guess i get lazy on a bolt or two. Any ideas?
