How a fishing rod is built - Lamiglas factory tour
I've seen this on WFN a few times over the past month. It shows the basic process from start to finish, blank making to finished rod. Pretty cool.

Other than the obvious like whites and oranges, I've never thought of a graphite rod as being "painted". I'm looking at a rod now and I see the "weave" under what I can only guess is some kind of clearcoat.
I'll never forget the horror and disapointment/disallusionment I felt 35 years ago when I stooped by the taxidermist to check on a fish he was doing for me and saw him airbrushing the colors on a bass he was working on.
