It wasn't the best day of fishing, but it felt great to be back out there again. Here it is July 13th, and this is the first day on the water for me that was warm and sunny this year!
They were hitting the Jitterbug early on. Wouldn't touch a spook or popper today which is very unusual. Water was warm and very discolored again. This lake is usually very clear! Between 4AM and 6AM the bass were hitting good. After that it was tough. This is one I caught around 6AM. As you can see, it's not very big, but it was the biggest of the day. LOL The spinner bait took over once the sun came out strong. Worked slowly around the sparse weed beds. I say sparse, because they did another weed kill recently and not many weed beds are visible and none of them look healthy in any way. I caught a couple from a rattling Strike King square bill. The last bass came off a black/blue flake Yum Dinger pitched on a weighted wacky hook into a weed pocket. The DNR made it's appearance as well checking me out to see that I was legal. I know from what I heard and saw, the next two boats were not. I just love it when an old guy yells at a DNR officer that he "is a tax paying citizen and has every right to do whatever the hell he wants to on this lake". Not a good move on his part. hahaha

Good deal. I have been doing well on a square bill recently, as well.
