Nope, the Trilene XL (extra limp my azz) had more memory than Stren Original. I got some of the Stren Super Knot. It seems to be limper than the original purple box. I haven't used it yet, but plan to tomarrow. I'll let ya know how it goes.

I don't completely change out my line unless I start getting low on my reel, but before every trip out I usually check the first 30-40 feet by sliding the line between my index finger and thumb to find any weak spots, kinks or knots...I typically cut out the line I don't need... If I could also please remind everyone to please take your un-used or broken line with you, I hate it when I snag someones line with a crank or suck it up in my trolling motor. It only takes a minute to clean up after yourself...I once watched some guys from Jersey toss out a bunch of used soft plastics and a bundle of line out of their boat as they came back in from fishing...If I wasn't alone I would've freaked out on em, but you mess with guys from Jersey you end up with concrete boots

Spiderwire Super Mono, the purple box, is the best mono IMO. That stuff has absoultely no memory and casts like butter.

I change when needed. Its either when my line gets loopy and doesnt cast well, when i am getting low, or (more pertaining to saltwater) my line gets abraised on rocks or I get spooled.

You get what you pay for, IMO. I use ANDE Backcountry for everything. Sure it may be 15 bucks for 300 Yards, but it holds up against everything. TB |
