As to the seafoam, This is interesting because it has only three main ingreadients! Without going and checking for the exact ratios, it is aproximatly 10-15% Alchohol, 20-30% Pale oil and the rest is nothing more than Naptha! I have no Idea why it works but it does, I soaked an old valve in it for a week and it did nothing, maybe it's the heat. Seafoam cannot hurt anything you put it in.As stated the ONLY outboard engines that require high octane fuel is ones that are modified from there original state of manufacture. High compression engimes are the only ones that benefit from high octane. The ingredients in Seafoam work there magic because of 2 different reactions one be it a chemical reaction and a thermal reaction. That would be the reason straight Seafoam sitting on something really doesnt do anything. Someone stated you really dont have to spray the carbs. This all depends on how bad the engines are. I HIGHLY recommend doint the shock treatment and spraying the carbs on very old engines and ones that have been suspected of fuel turning to varnish in them, Engines that are still running but just running rough the shock treatment alone will usually suffice. Seafoam while we are on the subject is not just for outboards. If it's an internal conbustion engine 2 or 4 stroke gasoline or diesel........lol or that crap they call ethanol...........you will benefit from Seafoam.
