Default Weekly Lake Fork Report From Guide Jim Reaneau

Well, the week started out gang busters. We had 42 on Tuesday and I thought the fishing report for the end of the month was on track. It read that the last two weeks of November would be a banner two weeks. Well, Wrong!!!This week was a tough one for me. After all the fish on Tuesday and then the bottom fell out. The fish were hard to come by. The deep fish would not bite even when you found them. The bait and the fish would move before you got the boat stopped. If you did mark a couple and did catch one or two then the rest would move. I had to keep cranking the motor to find them again. The shallow fish just were not to be found. I fished a lipless crank bait over grass and around timber. We managed a few out of the shallow water but just a few.
The Bar fish and sand bass were hard to find and catch. This was just a tough week
Hopefully tomorrow may bring a different day and the fish may turn on with the warm nights and warm days.
The weekend calls for sun and still in the seventies so the fishing may change. The fish are still scattered from deep to shallow. I would recommend covering plenty of water with a lipless crank bait in the shallows and jigging spoon, Tail spinners, drop shot and Carolina Rig out deep. The Lake Fork Tackle Baby Ring fry on the Drop shot and Carolina rig has been the best bait of choice.
By tomorrow the bite maybe back on. As my Grand Father would say that is why it is called fishing not Catching.
I want to wish all a Safe Holiday weekend and don’t eat too much Turkey.
