5 Fish Today:
3 peacock on spin 2 largemouth on spin All the peacock were between 2 1/2 and 3 pounds. The lake I was fishing was almost completely white from mud, but it didn't bother the fish. There was about a foot to a foot and a half of clarity in a lake that is usually really clear. This is my biggest largemouth on a crankbait ever. 4 pounds 8 ounces ![]() 4 pounds 8 ounces - 21 inches

nice fish. I had a 2 pounder on fly tonight that threw the hook again
Does hook setting get taking used to on flyrod? I seem to hook the small bass easy and the larger ones always throw it.

those little hooks can be tricky to stick well in a big mouth, but I am no expert. Maybe opt for a bigger hook?

I would if i could. I can only seem to throw smaller streamers on my 4 wt. that are about an 1nch and a quarter long.. small hooks.

The streamer flies don't have to be super long.
Make sure you "Strip Strike". Don't set with the rod. Strip Striking is pulling the line to set the hook. It is hard to explain. Check youtube or something and see if they have ome kind of lesson. You have to see it to understand. |

ahh, I just pull the rod to the side to set the hook, so your saying just strip hard to set the hook?

Kind of... When you strip strike, the little fish will usually move and come at you. When you hook a big fish, it will stop the fly. If you are in the habit of catching little ones and are't careful, you could break the fish off.
