Deep or shallow

What is best in the early morning? My area I'm looking at is a ledge wall into 20-25 feet of water going up to 2 to 4 feet with surface cover. Should I crank the outside deeper water or move right into the corner cove working the outside edges and over the top of the slop. This area holds big bass but to get to the shallow would mean boating through the deep water, maybe blowing the chance the bass would be a little deeper.
