Default If YOU can't go fishing...

...help a buddy who can.
I got a call from a friend, into serious bassing for the last year +, who's going to Choke Canyon tomorrow in the very early AM. He owns a Skeeter but he's a guest and will get his first "demo" in a Champ.
We've just had a cold front move through...dang it, so they'll be facing winds to 20-25, high pressure, prolly bluebird skies...ALL the negatives.
On the bright side, I was able to make up a "kit" for him that included four colors of 10" worms, pre-made C-rig gadgets with #25 P-Line CFX fluoro leaders already attached, two bottles of "attractant", a Falcon C-rig rod and a REVO, a new tube of Super Glue, a large buzzzzzzzzzbait, some large-bladed spinner baits, alternate-colored skirts and quick-change blades, some trailers (See: Super Glue). some Peg-its, some heavier tungsten worm weights, new trebles for some lures that were wayyyy overdue for them, three types of shaky/football/stand-up jig heads for his beloved ZOOM Trick worms, a Magellan raintop/windbreaker, a sweat shirt and pants, a spool of CFX #25 leader material, and a couple of other items.
We went to BPS and found some 7/0 'Katsus for the big worms. Then we spooled #50 braid on the REVO (hated to waste the #30), added a P-Line CFX #25 leader (8'), and he's all set.
Y'see, he lives over an hour away but has bought a small condo here in SA in order to cut down on fuel costs and reduce the risks of the deer-infested highway that runs from his home to his office here. He gets home on the weekends and his lovely bride comes down here when she can.
He did have some tackle here but there was a need for some other stuff, given the weather and the nature of the lake; so different from his "home" waters, Lakes LBJ and Marble Falls.
The point of all this is NOT to play hero or pretend to be one, not at all. What it IS about is the warmth one may derive from doing what one can for a friend. Heck, he might catch a new personal best tomorrow; Whether it be with anything I provided or not...doesn't matter at all. In a way, it was all a gift to ME. At least I'm involved with someone's trip.
I know the odds are against them, thanks to the weather gods, but I'll be up and at 'em, phone and kawfee cup at hand, from launch time until I know they're safely home. I'm hoping that first call comes in 15 minutes post-dawn, reporting a 10 pounder!

PS: At the very least he'll learn why ChampioNs are pretty much THE rough water, errrrr...Champs (and maybe the new and RARE Warrior bass models.)
