Smithwick lures... What's the difference between the two jerkbaits?

Both suspending.

might be how far they dive, how heavy they are, or what hooks they have, could be alot of stuff

I have been researching, but couldn't dig up anything. If I had to guess though, i would say hooks or finish or all of the above mentioned. Sorry for no definite answer though. Or it might just be the clever scheme of all the other lure companies by slapping a "Premium" sticker and jacking up a dollar or 2 for a bunch of overkill.

this isn't an answer to your question but it is a little known fact about rogues. several years ago (off the top of my head i want to say somewhere around 94') kvd won a classic on a rogue. for whatever reason smithwick made a change in the rogue after that and the ones you buy today have a different sound. the new rogue will catch fish but it is a popular opinion around here that the older model is far better, and these lakes around here are probably some of the best rogue lakes in the country and this opinion is shared by some real rogue junkies that know their jerkbaits. guess that is just some useless information.

C-rig-01, I remember that win! He had that rogue for years and years and kept catching fish with it.
I am not sure what the correct answer is, but my bet is that the Pro model has the upgraded excaliper hooks and is a suspending model (in two sizes).

That change was due to being sold to PURE Fishing.

Different plastic and cheaper blades and hooks..

The Premium model is just painted different.

my dad won a tourny back in 94 on a certain rogue color later they discontinued that color so he contacted them and asked if they had any so they sent him to free ones he then asked if he could buy more if they had some so he bought like 20 of them i now have his giant rogue collection and they are all the older models.

I've found the answer, and the pro rogues are slightly smaller. There may be some other differences that I've not yet noticed.

been having bad luck with the pro suspenders....won't stay in one spot....I like the regular ones better....they don't move up or sink.

I've noticed that the Pro Rogue has a slightly more slender profile. No idea why.
