Like the newly anoited fly fisherman I too got a new Orvis Fly Rod. But it cost me only 35 dollars.

Here is how I did it.. Before Xmas I let all the people I know that I wanted some Orvis winter fishing gear. They bought vests and flannel shirts and even flannel linned jeans. I got hats and scarfs and gloves too. All except one item went right back to store.. Now I feel bad about returning well thought out gifts like this.. But none of it fit and most of it....well lets just say "not my cup of tea". So I got for trade in, a sweet 9wt winter fishing rod. Hydros Saltwater ![]() I had a nice Mach IV spare spool that I got at a flea Market for 25 bucks and set of three lines I got for 8 bucks each last year. The lines are from Cortland's testing labs.. I tested the rig out and really only one line worked well so on the spare spool it went. A 350 Teeny.. Ready for some big convict bass or some small tuna.. Or whatever I get into.. The ascot and attitude will be shipped when they get in stock again.. Capt Mike

I got my first fly rod last year... a crappy $50 5/6 wt combo. So far it has been a lot of fun catching bluegill on some ole bream getters.
